Country Shapes of the Americas Quiz

This quiz shows the outlines of 35 countries in the Americas, one at a time, with no map around them. Guess each country from its shape alone and pick the right name from four choices.

How to play: look at the outline and tap the country, or press 1 to 4. The shapes are not to scale, so a small island can look as big as a continent. Outlines are drawn from Natural Earth map data, the same source as the Quiz Zoomies shape videos.

Frequently asked questions

What country is shaped like a boot?

Italy. Its long peninsula looks like a boot kicking a ball, the island of Sicily. It is one of the easiest shapes in the quiz.

Which countries have the most unusual shapes?

Chile is extremely long and thin, The Gambia is a narrow strip along a river, Lesotho is completely surrounded by South Africa, and Norway's outline is full of fjords. Island countries like Indonesia and the Philippines are spread over thousands of islands.

How many country shapes of the Americas are in this quiz?

35, every country in the Americas.

Are the country shapes drawn to scale?

No. Every outline is scaled to fill the same frame, so tiny Malta looks as big as Russia. Use the shape, the coastline and the islands, not the size.

Where do the country shapes come from?

The outlines come from Natural Earth map data (public domain), the same source the Quiz Zoomies channel uses for its shape videos. Tiny islands far from the mainland are left out so each shape stays readable.
